Whether you are a first timer building your own project or in need of a project completing we are more than happy to provide advice and guidance on all aspects of kit cars.

As well as classic cars we are keen kit car enthusiasts and we can repair and build to your specific requirements.

We also carry out servicing, assessment, repairs, rebuilds, restoration, rolling chassis builds, We have lots of experience in all aspects of kit cars and own a couple of our own.

We are happy to assess the condition and reliability of your vehicle and will give you an honest opinion for any work that maybe required.

Building a Kit Car or Replica?

The majority of kit cars are supplied in kit form not quite MFI flatpacks but close enough. Whether you are following the Ron Champion way or buying your kit from a specialised manufacturer the first order of the day is to check that everything you have ordered marries up to the parts you have been supplied.

There is nothing more frustrating than finding out during the build process that the parts you need are missing and even if its just a nut and bolt always check your deliveries. Additionally if you are missing some bits and pieces when you contact your supplier try and get an agreed delivery date so that you can estimate when you can carry on with your build especially if you cannot continue with other parts of the project.

Most kit cars are based on a separate chassis and either a mounted body or are panel fitted in materials such as fibreglass, stainless steel and carbon fibre.

There are some other variations such as monocoque construction, trikes and three wheelers amongst others.

Some Kit car manufacturers will supply you with a “Turn Key Car” which is a bespoke car built to order where the customer can choose their own specifications. Examples of this are Caterham Cars, Rolls Royce, Bentley and even Ferrari allow their customers to select everything from a V8 twin turbo engine to the material of the seats.

The following is an example of the steps involved in building your kit or replica.

Collect or Receive.

You have bought the car of your dreams and the first thing to do is to check that you have everything you ordered. There is nothing wrong with reading the list and checking it twice!

Sourcing the donor car

If you haven’t already done so you may need to find a suitable donor vehicle unless you are planning to buy new or reconditioned parts to build your car with. We often help customers in sourcing a suitable donor vehicle.

We are aware that budget constraints can often be a quandary and we will do our level best to meet your needs and we do offer staged payments.

A Full photographic service is also offered as part of the process so that you can have a record of all the work that is carried out and provides further provenance on the vehicle.

Part built

To get you off to a good start we can assemble a car to a stage where you can continue. This could be a rolling chassis or to the point where all that is left is the SVA/IVA and registration of the car.

Project Completion

If you have run out of time, lost the enthusiasm or your garage, being threatened by your other half! or just plain frustrated, we can help and finish the car for you. We can even carry out some of the work to a point where you would like to continue. This is a very popular option that can save a lot of time and get you on the road a little quicker. Remember most build times supplied by a manufacturer are guide lines dependant on your skills, knowledge and experience. A fully equipped workshop is also an added bonus!

So don’t sell your dream car as an ongoing project let us help you with your build whether you need us to finish the wiring or change the engine or fit a stereo whatever you need we are only a phone call away.

We can do everything from sourcing a suitable donor car to delivering a turnkey car to your door. So don't waste anymore time dreaming about your car when with a little help from us you could be driving it!

Detailing

Further considerations should be given to your project especially if you are building a replica or just want to add some finishing touches to you kit such as badges, stickers or even a period radio to enhance its accuracy or incorporate your personal taste again we more than happy to help.
